DUSEAL Th is a special Double sided self adhesive SBS modified waterproofing membrane specially designed where a subsequent layer (e.g. thermal insulation on building facades) needs to be applied over the membrane. DUSEAL Th is manufactured with a choice of reinforcements such as polyester mat, glass fibre or special aluminium composite that offers outstanding resistance to heat and vapour in thermal insulation systems. The top and bottom surfaces of the membrane are covered with siliconized peel off paper or foil.The DUSEAL range belongs to the Elastoseal group of membranes produced using a special grade of bitumen modified with virgin SBS polymer. The polymer-rich mixture is used to saturate and to coat both sides of glass fibre mat to the required thickness of the membrane.

To order specify reinforcement and thickness e.g. DUSEAL Th P 1.5 mm for polyester reinforcement and 1.5 mm thick sheet membrane.


DUSEAL Th is designed for use as water and vapor-proof underlay in multi-layer applications. Such applications include but are not limited to:

  • Façade vapor barrier under thermal insulation boards such as expanded and extruded polystyrene, polyurethane, glass and rock wool.
  • Under cap sheets on parapets, etc, e.g. with DUSEAL AG
  • As a first layer in double layer applications e.g. with DUSEAL PS 250
  • For use with light protection boards such as DUBOARD 3 mm, 3.5 mm or 4 mm


Surfaces onto which the membrane is to be applied must be sound, clean and dry. Dust, loose material and protrusions must be removed and cracks, holes etc made good.

Priming: Apply one coat of DUPRIME solvent based bituminous primer to all surfaces at 5-6 m²/lit and allow to dry. Primed surfaces must be covered within the same day. If left exposed for longer periods, clean and re-prime before applying the membrane.

Membrane application: Position, measure and cut the membrane carefully as required before installation. Starting from one end, remove the release film and unroll the membrane, pressing firmly by hand and/or roller from the top to ensure full bond with no air pockets. Maintain a minimum of 80mm side laps and 150mm end laps between rolls and stagger the joints where possible. Press and roll laps from top to ensure a continuous seal.

Subsequent layer:  The release foil on the top surface should be kept in place until immediately before installing the subsequent layer. Once ready, remove the siliconized foil or paper from the top surface and apply the second layer or board, pressing firmly onto the DUSEAL Th membrane below.

DUSEAL Th membranes are supplied in rolls 1m x 15m; shrink wrapped on pallets. Keep rolls upright on pallets under shade. DUSEAL Th pallets should not be stacked one over the other.


There are no direct health hazards associated with DUSEAL membranes. Normal precautions for hot and volatile substances should be observed during application. Refer to our MSDS sheets for advice.
